In the series “Pantanal” and “Amazonas” Angela de Oliveira harmoniously describes the splendors of the Mato Grosso do Sul and mysteries of the Amazon forest.

Angela added a series of figurative style paintings named “Contemporaneos”. This stage shows her appreciation for a period of time she deems memorable.

Angela de Oliveira’s paintings are tactile forces with light, color and texture. Deeply infused with her tropical roots, her work is a deeply evocative experience that immerses the viewer. Her stark contrast of light and dark shapes, interlock across the picture surface, describing a world of dualities.

The interplay between color and form gives her work a strong but serene feel at the same time. There is power in the presence of diverse textural layers of slabs of earth, cement, stucco and stones, finalized and intercalated by acrylic, gesso, paste, gel, and up to six different kinds of sands.

Angela de Oliveira’s work is a heavy presence.
